Police arrest ingenious robbers in Lagos

Four members of an armed robbery gang who specialize in raiding homes after switching off the generating sets have been nabbed in Lagos.

An armed robbery gang whose modus operandi is sneaking into people's homes, switching off their generating sets before attacking them, has been busted by the police in Lagos State.

Members of the gang including Akin Ayotunde, Isaac Ogbonna, Sola Dede and Sodiq Lawal, were arrested in the Ikorodu area of the state by a team of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), of the state command.
The robbery suspects were arrested on Thursday, August 25, 2016, when they invaded the apartment of one Bello Hakeem in the Igbe area, where they had spent six hours ransacking his house, before making away with his car, generator, phones, ATM cards, modems, laptops, cash, and jewelry.
They later withdrew the sum of N100,000 using one of the ATM cards they had stolen from Hakeem.
The leader of the gang, Ayotunde, 27, while confessing to their activities, said:
“I used to sell garri with my grandma in a market before a former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, demolished shops in the market. I tried another job, but it didn’t work.
I then sold the idea of robbing houses to my friends and we agreed to use only knives and not guns. We always lurk around developing areas in Ikorodu at night, look for any house that had its generator on, scale the fence and put off the generator."
"When the occupants of the house come out to check the generator, we attack. We made N60,000 from our first operation in March.
I was arrested when the man whom I had given the man’s car to called me that he had found a buyer. He said the buyer had paid N700,000 for the vehicle and that I should come for my share.
We agreed to meet at a restaurant in Ojota. But on getting there, I discovered that it was a setup and I was arrested.”

Shocker! Video Of A Man Having S ‘ex With A Snake...

55 year old Nigerian man,Cyprian Okoro, was caught with a stash of ‘extreme’ pornography, including a video of a man having sex with a snake, a court heard. He allegedly stored the images on his phone, having received them via WhatsApp, the Old Bailey heard.
They included three videos of a woman having s*x with a dog, one of a man having sex with a snake and one of a woman having sex with a horse. Okoro is charged with five counts of possessing pornography of a ‘grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise obscene character’.
He is also accused of one charge of possessing indecent images of a child relating to a video of a two-year-old boy. The footage came to light when his phone was seized by the police and examined by specialist officers, before being returned.
The videos were found to have been stored on a password protected specialist App or vault. In his police interview, Okoro said pictures would be sent to him on WhatsApp and automatically go into his photos gallery.
Prosecutor Nicola Devas, however, said since the indecent videos had been manually moved to the vault, it was clear he had viewed it. Okoro, of Streatham, south west London, denies the charges against him. The trial continues.

'My wife invited her brothers to beat me up after....

'My wife invited her brothers to beat me up after a quarrel'

Austin is contemplating divorcing his wife of six years after she invited her brothers to beat him up following a domestic quarrel.

My name is Austin and I have been married for six years with two children, but now, it seems the time to call it quits so that my brothers-in-law do not kill me as they have vowed.

My wife, Alaba, is the only female in a family of eight with seven males and she is seen as the baby of the house, even though there are two younger ones behind her, and growing up with seven men must have turned her into a kind of a tomboy.
Alaba has always been strong headed but she loved me in her own way. Though we have had issues once in a while, what she did three months ago that landed me in the hospital with a broken leg and arm has made me have a rethink on the marriage.
It happened that we had a quarrel and for the first time, I slapped her and, realizing what I did, I immediately apologized, promising that such would never happen again. But instead of my wife to just let it go, she told me I would regret ever raising my hand on her.
I thought she was going to punish me the only women know how to punish men by either refusing to cook for me or refusing to allow me sleep with her but unknown to me, she had put a call to her brothers who stormed my house late that night.
When four of her brothers barged into our house, I sensed there was going to be trouble but I still welcomed them as my in-laws. The youngest of them all, a 25-year-old loafer who is known for getting into trouble almost every week, held me by my throat and asked why I slapped his sister.
I tried to explain that we had a quarrel which is normal between a husband and wife but that did not go down well with them as they descended on me, beating the hell out of me that night. At the end of the pummelling, I ended up with a broken arm and leg, three broken ribs and bruises all over my face.
I spent two months and two weeks in the hospital though my wife was the one who took care of me all through but I am scared for my life because my brothers-in-law have vowed to kill me the next time I even shout at my wife.
Her parents, uncles and the other three brothers have been begging me to forgive the four but my lawyer and family insist I should sue them to court for the assault.
I don't think I can continue with a woman who would invite her brothers to attack her husband.
Austin."
Dear readers, on Morning Teaser today, what option do you think Austin should take to seek redress?

New Niger Delta Militant Group Blow Another Pipeline In...

Urhobo militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Movement, NDGJM, yesteday, blew up the Ogor-Oteri major delivery line, operated by the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company and Shorelines Petroleum in the state.
The group in a statement by its leader, “Gen” Aldo Agbalaja, in a statement, claiming responsibility for the attack at about 3.00 hours, said it was executed by its Uproot Team B, said the group was also launching “Operation Crocodile Tears” since the military had launched “Operation Crocodile Smile” to supposedly worsen the Niger Delta crisis.
It said:
“Recent developments around our region, especially as it concerns the issue of justice and our inalienable right to protect our heritage, have proven us right all along. Now it has become clearer who is serious about getting justice for our people and who has been using the name of the region and the destinies of all our peoples to feather their nests, raising dusts merely to harass the Nigerian state and the oil multinationals into parting with money.”
“Although some selfish machinery, merely put together to achieve some pecuniary ends, has been parading in the name of the peoples of the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate will not be derailed on its mission to getting justice for the people.”
.The group said those who want to join the self acclaimed leaders of the region to make quick money in the arrangement they had put together were free to do so, but it lacked confidence in the show they put together, calling it a pan Niger Delta initiative. It said those people could speak for Ijaw nation, but certainly not all the nations in the region, adding: “When lines are blurred, justice is most likely to be miscarried. If there shall be a negotiation, it must be seen and indeed, must be in actual sense, be representing all the individual nations of the region equally.”

Nigeria and UK sign MoU for the return of looted assets

Federal Government of Nigeria and the British Government today Tuesday August 30th signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the modalities for the return of Nigerian looted assets. The move is a follow up to the agreement reached at the London anti-corruption summit in May.
The Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami, who signed on behalf of the Federal Government in Abuja, noted that the MoU reflected the willingness of both countries to continue cooperation and mutual support.

He outlined the objectives of the MoU to include the fact that the processes of returning stolen assets was a partnership recognising the interest of both countries and based on mutual understanding, confidence and trust. That both countries recognised that they have a mutual interest in ensuring that returned assets are not at risk of being misappropriated again.

"And that both countries recognised they have obligations toward their own citizens for providing such assurances. That both countries recognised the importance of ensuring that the highest possible standard of transparency and accountability are applied for the return of assets." Malami said.

He assured the international community that all funds recovered would be judiciously utilised for projects that would benefit poor Nigerians. Leader of the UK delegation, British Minister of State for Immigration, Robert Goodwill, said that the MoU provided the mechanism by which monies could be returned.

"Our ability to recover and return stolen assets should send a clear message to all who may seek to habour such assets that there is no safe haven in the U.K," he said. "We are keen to do this as soon as the necessary legal process allow. As outlined at the summit, we will be taking steps to accelerate the procedures for identification and confiscation of illegally acquired assets."

He said that they were as committed as Nigeria in ensuring that beneficial ownership of assets was made available to relevant authorities so they know who the real owners of assets held in the UK are.

“Forty jurisdictions, including British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies announced that they will automatically share beneficial ownership information relating to companies, trusts, foundations, Shell companies and other relevant entities and legal arrangements. It is important that everyone can see how returned assets are used to benefit Nigerians. We have therefore agreed in this MoU to be fully transparent about this."

'Policemen killed my son, wants me to say hoodlums murdered him' - Aggrieved mother

The parents of a teenage boy who was shot to dead by the police in Bayelsa say the officers wanted them to sign a statement that claimed the boy was killed by hoodlums.

An aggrieved mother whose son was allegedly murdered by the police in Bayelsa State has come out with a damning indictment of the force when she said that the officers instructed her to sign a statement that claimed that her child was killed by hoodlums.

The woman, Preye Kokorifa, narrated that her son, Innocent, was murdered by the police in a brazen extra-judicial killing but tried to shift the blame to hoodlums.
“I sent  Innocent to go and give N2,000 to my elder sister’s daughter around 11am on Thursday morning. Later in the day, I was informed that Innocent was shot by the police, and I called my husband, who was in Port Harcourt and he asked me to go and find out what happened.
First, when I went to the Anti-Kidnapping office of the police and told them that they have killed my son, they asked me to say that it was bad boys that killed him so that they can investigate quickly.
When my husband who works in Port Harcourt came back after I informed him of the incident, we also went to the SCIID and they asked me to write a statement that it was bad boys that killed my son so that they could investigate the matter, but I refused.”
The father of the late teenager, David Kokorifa, an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Rivers State Sector Command, has also alleged that his son was killed by a police team in Yenagoa, the capital of the state and that the team was even led by his close friend who knows his son well.
“On August 18, 2016, my wife called me that our son was shot dead by the police. We went to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, but they denied knowledge of the incident.
We went to the anti-vice unit and they also denied. When we went to the scene of the incident, we discovered that it was the anti-vice team that came for the operation.
The following morning, I went to the anti-vice team again, but they denied knowledge of it. I saw a friend who works there. When I asked him, he also denied any knowledge of it. But I later discovered that it was my friend, who led the team that killed my son.
From there, I went to the Emergency Ward at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, in search of my son. There, I was told that the police brought the boy in the night around 11pm, the doctors said the boy was brought dead.
That was how I knew my son was dead. I went inside the mortuary with my son’s picture and my ID card before they allowed me in. I saw his lifeless body in the morgue.
From birth, he never had any criminal record. The day he died was the day his principal called me that he made all his papers. Now, he is dead. All I demand is justice,” the sad father pleaded.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Amiengheme Andy, has assured the family that the police will get to the root of the matter and fish out the culprit.
“We do not encourage such things. We all have children and nobody will send anyone out to shoot anybody and anyone who does that will pay dearly for it. We want to assure the family that nobody will cover up the matter.
At the end of the day, justice must be done. The Commissioner wants to see the father of the boy because it is very painful.”

See this weird looking baby monkey that was delivered by c-section

A tiny primate baby was this week delivered by Caesarean section surgery at Paignton Zoo in Devon and the strange looking monkey has been likened to Harry Potter's arch enemy Voldemort.

According to Vet surgeon, Jo Reynard, it was the first time they had conducted a C-section on a primate as her mother Ivy had developed complications before childbirth.
Vet Jo Reynard, said to Mirror UK:
“Ivy had reached her due date but been off her food and inactive for two days.A quick x-ray confirmed that the baby’s head was engaged in the pelvis ready to come out. Later that evening we became concerned as her health was deteriorating and with no signs of normal labour progressing, we decided to do a C-section to save Ivy’s life and that of the baby.”
Ghislaine Sayers, head of veterinary services at Paignton Zoo, said:
“We have only done three C-sections here in the last 16 years. Jo, our surgeon on this occasion, has performed them on dogs, cats, cows and sheep before – but never a primate. It’s not so common in zoos – most zoo animals manage to give birth by themselves. Introducing a new life into the world is always special. The hardest bit in these circumstances is knowing when to intervene and when to leave the mum alone to give birth naturally. Jo added
"It is an exciting thing to be involved in, but the overriding feeling is concern for the mother and this can make you a bit apprehensive. You want to do the best job you can for her.”

Man who killed business partner in Delta begs for forgiveness from the ghost

A man who lured his business partner to his house and killed him, is now crying and begging the ghost of the deceased for forgiveness.
Kingsley Agbaire, a businessman based in Warri, Delta State, who killed his associateLawrence Okoh, has cried out to the ghost of the deceased to forgive him and stop haunting him.
Okoh, a vehicle parts dealer based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was reportedly murdered by the suspect when he traveled to Warri to supply him with some parts when Agbaire lured him to his house and killed him on August 4, 2016, two days after he went to make the supplies.
According to the State Police Command, Agbaire had allegedly murdered his friend and buried him a shallow grave but the secret was found out after Okoh's wife raised an alarm over her missing husband and father of young twin children.
The murder of the 51-year-old Okoh, an indigene of Ubulu-Uku community in Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State, has thrown his family into confusion as they keep wondering why Agbaire would murder him for no reason at all, believing that he killed their brother for ritual purposes.
A member of the Okoh family who brought the deceased up, James Okoh, said:
“In the morning on Wednesday, August 3, Lawrence was surprised when he woke up and discovered that four of the items he brought were missing.
He also noticed that Kingsley and his friend were no longer in the house. He put a call through to one of his friends, Callus and told him what he discovered.
On hearing this, Callus reminded him of his warning that people from that particular area were very dangerous. He asked him to return with the remaining goods. But Kingsley and his friend returned and asked him to be patient, saying that they were going out to look for money.
Lawrence waited for them until they returned at night. That night, at about 8pm, was the last time he spoke with his wife.
His wife said he had stayed too long in Warri, asking Kingsley to send the number of the man he went to, which he did.
He also sent the number to Callus through text message. He later sent a message to his wife that Lawrence and his friend had collected his ATM card, shoes, and clothes. That was the last time his wife and friend heard from him as he became unreachable after that.
At about 12.30 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, I was called and informed that they had not been able to communicate with Lawrence. Callus and Lawrence’s wife, Nneka, said when they called the number he gave them, the voice at the other end kept saying ‘wrong number’.
Callus also continued calling but Kingsley kept terminating his calls. This raised Callus’s suspicion and he called me that he suspected something had gone wrong.
After raising some cash, my younger brother and I left Ibadan, Oyo State, for Warri on Monday, August 8. We went to Warri Area Commander and narrated what happened.
He gave us a team which started work immediately. The detectives were able to locate Lawrence’s residence and they arrested him.
During police investigation, Kingsley confessed that he broke Lawrence's SIM card when he was being pestered with frequent calls from the family. When they asked him of my brother’s whereabouts, he said Lawrence left his house in annoyance when he told him that the goods he brought were not genuine parts.
That was how we started trying to unravel what happened to Lawrence.  Callus came from Port Harcourt and we went to the spare parts market in Warri.  Fortunately, Callus has a brother within the market who said some of the goods described by Callus were brought to him, though he did not buy.
The brother was the one who went round the market to ask those who purchased the spare parts to get the person who sold to them because the owner was missing.
The buyers went to the police station and when Kingsley was brought out, he only stared, as he could not utter a word.
The people identified him as the one who sold the spare parts to them. When asked whether the people’s claim was true, Kingsley admitted, folding his arms on his head forlornly.
The police asked for Lawrence’s whereabouts again but all he could say was ‘please, have mercy on me.’ This happened on Friday, August 19, 15 days after Lawrence had been killed.
We were taken to the Area Commander and he asked him again: ‘where is Lawrence?’ Kingsley replied that he should be given two days to produce him. Lawrence’s wife knelt and begged him to disclose her husband’s whereabouts and he promised a week again.
That was when we told him he was lying. The Area Commander asked all of us to leave his office except police detectives; that was when Kingsley confessed that my brother was dead. When asked how he died, he confessed that he and one other man,Kennedy, killed him.
He said they killed him by smashing a bottle on his head. He spoke further that his victim could not cry for help because he was weak by then. He did not disclose what he did to render him weak.
He said after the killing, they buried Lawrence at the backyard of the building beside his house, and that his partner in crime fled to Ghana afterward.
That was how Kingsley killed my younger brother for nothing. We are suspecting that they removed his body parts which were taken to Ghana by his partner in crime.”
It was gathered that the goods Okoh took to Warri for the supply were worth N1.6 million. Okoh was said to have known Kingsley about eight years before his brutal killing and had supplied him spare parts while the latter was in Lagos State and the former resided in Ibadan.
When the police went to exhume the body which was buried in a dump site face down,  Kingsley was reported to have begged the police to loosen his handcuff so that he could help in the exhumation.
He was quoted to have said that he wanted to use the opportunity to seek forgiveness from his victim. He reportedly said that he could see the spirit of the deceased in the midst of the people.
At a point, Kingsley reportedly cried:
“Lawrence, forgive me o. It was the devil that pushed me into killing you. You did not offend me in anyway. Please forgive me.”
The heartless murderer, Kingsley Agbaire
